About A A Hinton

AA Hinton has many years experience, and trained first at Chichester College, studying
Holistic Therapies (Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Swedish Body Massage, combined with
modules on Anatomy and Physiotherapy, Counselling and First Aid), full time.
She continued
her training there, training in Depilation, Indian Head Massage, Sports Massage. She continued
her studies, training with local Reiki Masters Katie Holland and Angela Gilbert, eventually
obtaining a Reiki Mastership.
She was an active member of the British Red Cross for a number
of years, training and gaining experience attending events as a First Aider.
Later, she decided
to expand on the Natural Beauty treatments on offer by training in Hand and Foot treatments,
again at Chichester College. There was additional specialist training with Natural Nailcare
professionals, Jessica, and Artificial Nail professionals, Essential.
Following interest from
her clients, she decided to train in Hopi Ear Candling with Sue Maunsell, in association with
Biosun candles.
More recently, she has decided to broaden her professional skills in massage
with Jing Advanced Massage Training. She has been especially delighted with the high standard
of training she has found here, and is continuing her studies with them. So far, she has
studied Hot Stone Fusion Massage, Holistic Medical Massage Foundation and Hand, Arm and Wrist Problems, as well as workshops
in Chair Massage, Soft Tissue Release and Deep Tissue Massage.
Most recently, she has completed her Doula training with Nurturing
Birth, and is currently working as a Trainee Doula for Birth and
Postnatal.
In her personal life, she has
studied Egyptian Dance for some years.
She holds a recent, clear CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.
She has been immunised against Hepatitis B, which is advised for all
healthcare workers, providing her and her clients with protection
against transmission of this virus.
Grand Re-Opening!
As some of you may know, due to a recent fire, we have been operating out of a room provided by a local church.
The up side to the fire and smoke damage is a beautifully redecorated therapy room!
So, to celebrate the re-launch, we'd like to invite you to an Open Day, complete with nibbles, refreshments, demos, talks and the opportunity to find out more.
We'll also be holding a raffle, and there will be several special offers to take advantage of. Any treatments booked on the day will receive a special discount, and there will be free mini treatments for all bookings of Pamper Parties and Aromatherapy Parties.
We will also be launching Mini Treats.
Dates to be confirmed.
Ethical Policies and Accessibility
Products
The items such as cleaning products and laundry liquid are environmentally
friendly, natural, biodegradable, from renewable resources (wherever
possible), not tested on animals, free from animal derivatives (and
hence appropriate for vegans) and suitable for those with allergies
and sensitive skin. The packaging contains high levels of recycled materials,
and is always recycled at the end of its useful life. Wherever possible,
all products used are natural or have a high proportion of natural ingredients.
Artificial preservatives are avoided (the hand and foot treatment products
are preserved using silver), as is animal testing. Many products are
vegan-friendly.
I look at every aspect of the treatments and try to make them as first-class
as possible. Feedback is always appreciated. I have an excellent range
of quality Essential oils – over sixty different oils and eight different
carrier oils from which I can make a truly unique and useful blend. I
may also order new oils to treat clients with as necessary. I keep my
oils in the fridge and ensure that they are fresh. I choose oils for clients
based on suitability, not on price.
My products are not tested on animals.
I regularly attend trade fairs and exhibitions and read trade
journals to ensure I am up to date in the field.
I use cornflour, not talc in Reflexology, as this is more environmentally
friendly (being made from plant material, and thus more easily harvested,
renewable and biodegradable) and better for the health of both the client
and therapist, talc having been linked to cancer formation.
Uniform
My uniforms are made from environmentally friendly minimally processed, unbleached
natural fibres, organic and fairly-traded cotton, linen, silk and hemp, where
possible.
Animal Testing
To the best of our knowledge, no products or cleaning products
used are tested on animals. We are currently checking policies in all
supply companies.
Recycling
As much waste as possible is recycled, and every effort is made
to minimise waste. Consumables such as toilet paper are usually recycled,
and new suppliers for other recycled products are being sought.
Natural and Organic
Virtually all products are natural-based or strongly emphasise
natural ingredients, apart from some items such as nail enamel (for
which there are no truly natural options). We also seek to avoid harsh
chemicals, preservatives and unnecessary artificial ingredients.
Due to a lack of interest, shortage of availability and the increased
cost involved, very few products in use are organic at present. It is
something that we hope to eventually pursue, with a view to being fully
organic. If you would like to request organic products or oils for your
treatment, or to purchase, please enquire, and we will do our best to
source products for you (an extra charge will be made).
Men and Women
We are always happy to treat both men and women, but unfortunately,
sometimes, professional therapists are mistaken for those who offer
“extras” - naturally any clients who behave inappropriately will be
asked to leave.

Children
Due to the nature of a relaxing treatment,
it is not ideal to have children attending with
parents or carers. We understand, however, that there may
be times when it is difficult
to find childcare, so well-behaved children or babies may
be welcomed on a case-by-case basis. Breastfeeding is welcomed.
Please enquire.
Religion
None of the therapies offered are religious-based and are
compatible with all known belief-systems. If you have any queries,
please contact
us.

Visually Impaired
The website has been designed with text readers in mind, and
literature is available printed in large type, Braille
or recorded on to CD or cassette tape (an extra charge may be made).
Guide
dogs are welcome. We are currently consulting with the
Worthing Society for the Blind over accessibility for the blind and
visually impaired.

Deaf or Hard of Hearing
I had a profoundly deaf friend for some years, as well
as having spent time working in an environment with those
with
hearing impairment, and have a basic knowledge of sign language
and
finger spelling, and an
awareness of lip-reading. I hold a Certificate in Deaf and
Disability Awareness. Hearing dogs for the deaf are welcome.
We are Typetalk-friendly.

Physical Disabilities
The Therapy Room itself is not wheelchair accessible, but advance
appointments can be made for a nearby disability-friendly venue. A
ramp and disabled toilets are available at the venue. A small
additional charge may be required.
Adaptations are always happily made to suit the individual, please
contact me to discuss your individual needs.
Access issues will always be treated with the respect and
consideration that they deserve.
Helping dogs for the disabled are welcome.

Other disabilities
Every effort will always be made to make information and treatment
as accessible as possible to everyone regardless of social
or personal circumstances.
Low or unwaged
Special arrangements for pricing may be available to those
who may not otherwise be able to afford the right treatments. Arrangements
are made on a case-by-case basis, please enquire.
LGBT friendly
We are proud to welcome lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, trans
people and those with other alternative lifestyles for treatment. All
people
from all walks of life will be treated with the respect
they deserve. If you have any particular concerns, please contact us
to discuss them.

Vegetarians, Vegans and Sensitivity Awareness
We are currently working on listings for all products used
in all treatments and retail items, detailing any non-vegetarian
or vegan ingredients. We try also to be as sensitivity aware
as possible. Treatments
using vegan, wheat- and nut-free products (for example) are
readily available. Please ask for further information.

For further suggestions to improve accessibility on the website
or with the therapies, please contact us.
